Chicago...One Town that Won't Let You Down

This weekend we drove down to Chicago to see my grandparents and hang out with Dan & Allison. We both took a half day off, and it felt so good to see so much of the sun! I popped the sun roof open to let a couple extra rays shine in. Nick drove all the way down while I caught up on some project management reading (I got through the whole book!!).

We stayed at my Grandma's for the weekend, which is always so much fun. She is such an amazing cook, too!! I slept so well too. I honestly haven't slept as well as I did on Friday night for at least 3 months.

Saturday morning we headed downtown to the Shedd Aquarium. I've been there many times, but not since I was 10 or so. We actually conned a pretty good parking spot and walked to the front entrance, which is way around the side. Not on the front. (Um, weird?) I stopped short when I saw how long the line was. It stretched all the way down the big impressive steps of the building....and on..and on...and on.... There were easily several hundred people inline outside, and another 150 or so zigzagged through the inside. Insane!! At first I'm like, hey, it's gorgeous, there are big fluffy Christmas-eve snowflakes falling...we're good. And then my legs went completely numb. And my right ear froze.

Grandma decided to see if they'd let us sneak in at the Will Call door. They did! I felt really bad for everyone left out in the cold, but I was also glad that I wasn't out in the cold! We walked through almost the entire Aquarium, and, of course, saw the dolphin show!

After breakfast with Grandpa we drove down to Wheaton to see Dan & Allison. Our sushi date from New Years was postponed (since Nick was sick then) so we cashed in our rain check this time! We had so much fun catching up on major life decisions and comparing house stories.

And then it was back on the road. We made great time on the way home, but left late and stopped to pick Snuffy up from "Grandma and Grandpa's" on the way back.

And then it was Monday....
