We are officially less than one month away from owning our house! We walked through it again on Friday, and it's getting harder and harder to leave it. I want to start working on it, and seeing my "dream kitchen" come to life. But then I start thinking about everything we need to get ready before April 11. Like finalizing colors and supplies for kitchen. And ordering things. And picking paint colors. And contacting flooring contractors. And tub-resurfacing contractors. And double and triple-checking the budget to see how we're doing (I'm guessing, not good!). What an adventure. I mean, really. Have you ever tried to visualize an entire floor of tile matching an entire countertop matching all your cabinets when looking at single tiles and 4x4 pieces of wood? Lemme tell ya--it's not easy!
And then there's the wall-tearing-down issue. We're hoping to avoid collapsing the house, which typically means not tearing down load bearing walls. But determing whether or not a wall is load bearing is...difficult. And paying an engineer a couple hundred bucks to figure it out isn't super high on my list. Although, it might be a little higher than the roof caving in. The jury's still out.
Well folks, that's the latest and greatest in the house saga. Stay tuned for more!
Germanns,
ReplyDeleteI lose sleep over how excited I am for you! We notified our real estate agent that we want to look at houses "N of Maryland and E of Arcade"... which would pretty much make us neighbors. *giddy clap*!
Are you pulling permits for your work? Maybe Nick needs his blog so that I don't have to pester you with my questions.
