We're Nick and Cindy Germann, a pair of young and crazy dreamers living in St. Paul, Minnesota.
In 2004 we were set up on a blind date by our college roommates. By January we were dating and two and half years later we got married on 7.7.07.
Less than a year later we bought our first house, a gorgeous 1924 Arts and Crafts that needed a lot of love. We had only two months to cross everything off the city's Vacant Housing List so we could move in before our current lease expired. Somehow, it all got done and on June 11, 2008 we moved in. Well, Cindy moved in. Nick was out of town that week, leaving Cindy to wrap up some plumbing nightmares and move all of our earthly belongings on her own.
Now, three years later, we're still working hard to make this house our dream home. In the meantime, we're planning and saving for the next house - another total fixer-upper that we'll flip and then rent out.
Somewhere between 1am plumbing and building a garage from the ground up we decided that we want to spend the rest of our lives flipping houses. It's a far cry from the original dreams of two music majors, but we're learning that sometimes what we really want looks totally different than what we'd been working towards. In the rare hours we’re not wielding power tools we’re typically doing Crossfit, chasing our two dogs or hanging out with the people we love.
So here we are. Figuring out how to juggle full-time jobs and a dream bigger than the house we're flipping.

ReplyDeleteJust stumbled on your blog. How cool of you two to really go after it. I went to high school with on of the guys on Flipmen and have huge respect for what people like you do. Forget the money, I think it does so much to revitalize neighborhoods. Good luck.
