left, right, left right left

We have three parades left in the 2011 marching season.

As of right now? Undefeated, baby!

The husband's band has been ranked #1 or #2 in the state in their class for years and years. Last season was a little rocky, but they fought hard and hung on to the #2 spot. This year they kicked everything up a notch and all their work is paying off. Last night they brought home another Grand Champion trophy!

So far this season has been a cool and cloudy one. Perfect marching weather compared to the blistering hot season we had last year. We got rained on (a lot!) last Saturday, but so far none of the parades have been rained out.

I've had the opportunity to work with the flute section a couple of times this year (there's that expensive music degree paying off!!) and every time I'm so impressed by the kids and their amazing attitudes. These high schoolers work hard. The staff holds the kids to a high standard and their rehearsals are all run with military-like precision. The kids eat it up.

So that, in a nutshell, is our plan for the weekend! We'll be marching all over the state. And I'm running a 5k Saturday morning just to squeeze some extra fun into the weekend.

As long as we make it through the next three days we'll earn our "I survived Marching Band Season 2011" button and then life will resume it's normal pace.

Until March of 2012 when we start this all over again.

  1. Marching season can be crazy. We got just a taste of that when my brother was in the Osseo band for a few years. He'll be marching with the alumni band at the festival tomorrow. Will PC be there?
