Well.
In addition to his normal day job and his side-job-landscaping gigs, Nick is on staff with a local high school marching band. Their season spans March - June, with the craziest part packed into the last two weeks. Which is now.
They have 8 parades (and a rehearsal!) happening in 10 days, which basically equals CRAZY when piled on top of another job and stuff like "normal" life.
Which means we get up at 4am to hit a 5:15am class at the gym because our evenings are full of parades.
I know you're not reading this until Friday morning, but I'm actually writing it at 11:30pm on Thursday night. I've been up since 4. Hubs has been up since 4. Hubs has not been home since we left for the gym at 5am, and is driving home right now. And that, in a nutshell, is marching band season.
And yet somehow we love it and we're so proud of the work that the kids put into it. But I'll be incredibly relieved if we survive the next 10 days.
Anyway, last night Shalai and I headed to their parade. It was Shalai's first parade ever and she did really well. The noise didn't seem to phase her at all, but she was a little intimidated by the crowds. The highlight of her night was definitely running into Nick when his band came down the street. Best.day.ever. in her world!
Happy as a clam on the way home from the parade!
So now when you hear me talk about "parade season" or "marching band" you know what I'm talking about. And it might come up a time or two, since that pretty much summarizes our plans for the next two Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun.
BUT THEN??
Then we start working on our house. I can't wait!
While we're on the topic (which we weren't), you've got to check out my garden progress. Remember how I just planted this a week ago?? I can't believe how fast everything has popped up!
I picked up some zucchini seeds on Sunday too, and with the two tomato plants I bought I'm hoping we'll end up with a reasonable amount of produce this year. I definitely hope to have a bigger garden next year (and plant sooner in the year!!) but something's better than nothing, right?

listening to your day exhausts me! i am jealous of your motivation to go to the gym!
ReplyDeleteHow impressive that your hubby is so committed to helping those kids. How do you get motivated to go to the gym so early? I consider 4-5AM the "ungodly" hour. Sometimes my son gets up that early and is rearing to go. Yuck! BTW, your dog is very cute!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know humans were awake at 4am...let alone working out. I would die. Luckily I have time at night for exercise! I'm seriously impressed at your dedication!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the marching band craziness!!
You guys rock!! Love your passion. So Very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteWow you guys are busy! I am so impressed you keep working out (and working on the house and gardening) through all that type. Typing it all just exhausts me!
ReplyDeleteah! I was in marching band, too, in high school. You're so right about the time commitment...but it was always tons of fun!
ReplyDeleteMarching band widow here...it's already started again in Indiana. (Well, it's been going all summer. All year. It never stops.) But I love it!! :)
