I really really miss working on our house.
We've made absolutely zero progress on our house project in over a month and it's driving me crazy. And it's not even so much that it isn't done (although...there is that). But I honestly miss the process itself, too. I actually found myself itching to pick up a paint brush about a week ago, and I don't usually like painting all that much.
Have you ever been at that point? It's frustrating, but it's also reaffirming that this is indeed the (crazy. hectic.) life for us. And fortunately we have this entire weekend blocked out for working on our kitchen/dining room project! We have a brief break in the graduating/wedding/marching band schedule, so we crossed off this weekend months and months ago and scrawled HOUSE all over it in big red letters (yes, really).
We still need to iron out the exact details, but at this point any progress will feel oh, so good. Maybe we'll get the rest of the insulation in. Maybe we'll get the final wall drywalled. Maybe we'll do mudding and sanding. Maybe we'll finish the whole thing! Ok, fine. Probably not.
Have you ever taken a break from projects and found yourself dying to get back into it? How long did you manage to keep yourself away?
ps - we're blogging over at the Service Magic Connection! Check it out and see our thoughts on functional kitchen remodels. And we'd totally love it if you left a comment because right now we're hearing crickets!
pps - you can still enter our Great Stuff giveaway! Sneak in fast though, because it closes Thursday.
This is my husband in a large nutshell. He is so ready to be done with renovations and then when he is done, he wants to try again. That's why we have another house. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo, my advice, buy another house. ;)
Oh I'm glad we're not the only ones who have projects that take forever! Our bathroom has sitting half done for about a month now too...We both are just lacking motivation to do anything about it and we're waiting for the new glass block window to get installed which is working as a convenient excuse to put off further renovation.
ReplyDeleteLol, so glad I found your blog. I could have written this post because this is so ME! I complain about projects being incomplete, I get frustrated when I don't see progress, and I hate all the construction mess and tools that are always around. But I'm also the first one to say, "let's just install a new floor this weekend". Oh god. I need help, don't it???
ReplyDeleteTotally understand.
ReplyDeleteAll but ~2 week-ends in our summer are packed. I'm a hermit. I like my house and I like to make it pretty but all of this friend/family bonding is cutting into that time. :P
Enjoy your project week-end!!
Yes!!!! Yes to this whole post. I just wrote today about how I have been so absent, sometimes life gets in the way! Wish I blogged for a living :). That and we kind of took a hiatus to save up a bit too. I am itching to get back to it!
ReplyDeleteYou guys make me feel normal! I love it. : ) Thanks for validating my insanity.
