put some paint on it

That's what I did this weekend. Slapped paint on things. Well, primer, actually, but whatever.

After spending a very large chunk of Saturday sanding (sanding, SANDING!) two of our kitchen cabinets, I pulled out the primer and started whipping these rather sad-looking cabinets into shape.

After a coat of water-based primer we have a couple spots that are going to need some extra help. Like these radioactive circles in the bottom of one cabinet.
Just kidding. It's (probably) not radioactive. But it is a fairly terrifying shade of yellow. Even more terrifying is the fact that you couldn't see it until I painted over it. I'm really glad we've been using shelf liners for the past three years, but I'm going to feel a lot better once these cabinets are a beautiful new shade of white. We should be able to take care of this cabinet with a quick coat of oil based primer.

In other news, there's still time to throw your name in the hat for the 3M giveaway! And right now, let's just say you've got stellar chances of winning. Plus, remember that your giveaway entry could win you $250 from 3M, in addition to a pack of some great 3M goodies. Go. Do it.

And finally, sorry I've been so absent lately. I have lots of blog reading to catch up on and lots of DIY-ing to catch you all up on. Here's to a new week and another chance to stay on top of things!

  1. Ugg, I don't envy you. We helped Nate's sister paint her kitchen cabinets a couple of weeks ago. It went pretty fast with 4 of us...I can't imagine tackling it alone!
