I decided that for me, January is the month of "just do it."
It's not a glamorous goal for a month, but for someone who often finds herself paralyzed because I'm not sure where to start or how to do it perfectly...well, it's a good goal for me right now. So far in January of 2013 I have done more dishes before heading to bed, folded more laundry (right away), taken care of a lot of nagging personal business, killed to-do lists and put things away. Instead of trying to plot out the entire process I'm taking it one step at a time and just getting started. It feels really good.
I also deleted 13,000 pictures off my computer.
There are a lot of reasons it's been quiet around here lately, but one of the biggest was the fact that our computer is so painfully slow it's almost impossible to use for things like....blogging. Even though this baby is 5 (and a half!) years old we're hoping to keep her alive awhile longer, so we bought another external hard drive and moved all our photos onto it. However, we purchased the hard drive in November and come January it was still sitting on the desk, unopened. Well, my "just do it" resolve kicked in and I went ahead and backed those photos up and deleted them off the computer. Apparently deleting 13k photos does indeed make your computer run faster. (the more you know....)
I've also been putting off my return to the blogosphere because I wasn't quite sure how to pick up and jump back in after so much silence. But in the interest of "Just Do It January!" here I am. Hi, Friends. I've missed you.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season and got to hug a lot of people you love. I hope you had a meaningful New Year and had a chance to reflect on how incredible the past year has been. Whether it was a year of dreams come true or heartache, I hope you are excited about starting fresh in 2013. I know I sure am.
And since no blog post is complete without pictures, please enjoy our feeble attempts at a family Christmas photo on Christmas Eve.
Also? Our tree is still up. Just Do It January is not a total success.
(my personal favorite)
I'll be back. On Monday. And we'll talk about our house. It's good to be back. Happy weekend, friends!

ReplyDeleteOk, so here's our solemn pact that we will both have our trees out of our houses by Monday at 8am. Ready....set.....go....
DeleteCindy's back!!! Way to kick butt and take names.
ReplyDeleteI kind of love Beemer's hair in that first photo.
We call it his bedhead. I kind of love it. He's up for a trip to the groomer, but I'm gonna miss that bedhead!
DeleteAre those baby bottles behind you in that last picture? Is this a super-subtle announcement? ;)
ReplyDeleteHa! Those are indeed baby bottles, but they were a gift. Not an announcement. But good eye!! Haha.
DeleteA gift for someone else! Just to be clear...
DeleteWelcome back!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back!!! And I love your family pictures. And your goal of the month. Sometimes I need to think less and do more.
