99.2%

That is how far done we are on the patio. 99.2%. And while I would really (really really) like it to be 100%, I'm also really (really really) glad it's not 70%.

We spent Thanksgiving in Boston and we knew our only chance of finishing the patio before snow was to get it done before our trip. After slower-than-we'd-hoped progress over the weekend, Nick ended up taking a day off to cut brick. He spent 6 solid hours cutting brick, but the results were definitely worth it.

All that's left to do is raise a couple bricks (he ran out of sand at the end and we had a commitment that night), cut two more bricks and then sweep sand between the cracks. I've been hoping we'd have one last day of decent temperatures, but the yard is now covered in snow and our high today was 7 degrees.

So, our patio might look just like this until Spring.

If I squint hard enough it's 80 degrees and sunny and I'm drinking an Arnold Palmer on the patio.

Spring is coming, right guys?

(The little area on the right hand side is for our grill. We wanted it on the patio but not in the way of the table. That little spot should work perfectly!)

  1. I can see the 80 degrees!! I can. Unfortunately I feel this may be the longest winter known to man. But if you make, you will have a beautiful patio to enjoy. Hang in there. ;)

    1. I'm so terrified that you're right about this winter. It already feels long and it's not even winter yet, is it? Oh dear.

  3. This looks great! It's making me reconsider the future deck options and opt for a patio instead... ! Also, the dog photobombs are amazing.

  5. I'm so impressed with your curvy shape, (I mean the patio, although I'm sure yours is great, too! ha) that does involve a lot more cuts but looks so much nicer than a squared off shape!

    1. Haha, I'll take either one as a compliment. ; ) And I swear we will never learn to cut ourselves some slack and do it the easy way, but at the same time I love the curves.
