It's no secret that we're pretty crazy about our furbabies! We're the proud parents of two English Springer Spaniels and one Holland Lop (rabbit). We figured they deserved some dedicated space on the ol' blog for a formal introduction.
First - meet Snuffles:
Snuffles/Snuffy/Snufflebutt is a four-year-old Holland Lop. She weighs in at 3 lbs but has an attitude ten times her body weight. We brought her home 5 weeks after we got married, when she was just 3 months old. She'd already had a (short!) career as a show bunny when we adopted her. She's probably the cutest three pound creature on the planet, but she's not always quite as cuddly as she looks. Snuff is the perfect stress reliever after a long day!
Next up? Meet Shalai, our four-year-old English Springer!
Shalai is a pure-bred English Springer. And we're kinda in love with her. We adopted Shalai when she was already a year and half old. She spent the first 18 months of her life in a breeder's kennal, where she was well taken care of but not at all socialized. It's taken a long time for her to get comfortable around people, but she's been very attached to us since day one. She's a tiny Springer at just 26lbs but oh.my.goodness. the energy! She definitely puts the "spring" in Springer. Even though she's a tiny little thing she has a mean vertical leap and can look me in the eyes. (Even when I'm wearing heels.) Her name is pronounced Sha-LAY. We just liked the name but didn't like the traditional spelling (Shellay). We didn't intend to confuse the entire world, but that's kind of what happened.
And last but certainly not least, meet Beemer.
Beemer will be 6 this year, but we've only had him since August of 2010. He's another purebred Springer, but he's a big boy at about 55lbs. He has the whole "puppy eye" look down perfectly. Beemer came from a family that absolutely adored him, but he just wasn't working out with their kiddos. We've had some behavioral issues to work through but he's come so far in such a short amount of time. After a somewhat rocky start we're totally in love with him and can't imagine life with his (very) sloppy kisses.
